Forging Your Own Patterns with Dashed Dye
Dash-dyeing is about positive aspects of letting go. There’s no way to control every part of the outcome—just like in life. But in that surrender, something beautiful happens.
Dash-dyeing is about positive aspects of letting go. There’s no way to control every part of the outcome—just like in life. But in that surrender, something beautiful happens.
By showing up authentically—grounded, messy, and human—you normalize imperfection and create space for genuine connection. Joy is found not in erasing flaws but in transforming them into something extraordinary. Pursue what lights you up, wear your colors boldly, and celebrate being beautifully human.
Abstract art invites reflection, connection, and creativity, and so does dash dyeing. This process isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s an emotional journey and an invitation to create.
Alexander McQueen didn’t just make clothes; he told stories. His designs were bold, fierce, and unapologetically emotional. He was a designer who poured his soul into his creations, and you can do it, too.
From ancient Egypt to the modern upcycling movement, the art of textile transformation has always been about more than just fabric. It’s a way to express creativity, honor tradition, and care for the planet. At More Joy, we’ve taken this timeless tradition and given it a revolutionary twist with our dash dye method, blending history, chemistry, and sustainability into every garment.
See how a trip to the museum might shift your mood in a way that your brain can know. The Nature of Color might show you what you need more of but you have to go there to experience it first hand! Bring your curiosity!
Creating together with Sara and her daughters during a Dash Dye session was a beautiful reminder of the power of family learning.
The beauty of Dash Dyeing goes beyond the colors on the fabric; it’s a colorful expression of friendship and memories.
So much of what we communicate is nonverbal, and clothing can be the quietest yet boldest way to say, “This is who I am.” Watching someone’s face light up when a friend looks them up and down, appreciating their style, is powerful.

🔥🟧+🔵💧 Find Your Fit, Feel Your Fire
At the Tie-Dye Festival in Howard City, I finally met my neighbors @drickdrakedesigns after watching them play and laugh outside their booth all weekend.
When Anne slipped into my Pagoda Red + Orange Crush stretch denim dance pants, she lit up like fire. Frederick fell for Cerulean Blue with Grecian Sea, calm and deep. Side by side, they created a portrait of balance—🔥 & 💧—wearing the same cut but in their own unique way.
Here’s the thing: my role isn’t to tell you what your favorite color is. My work is to hold space so you can discover it for yourself. That’s when the real magic happens.
These unisex, versatile stretch denim pants are just one of the many cuts I offer—and I can make them custom to your measurements.

💛 Power Portrait: Jesse in Daffodil Yellow 🌼🕊️
We met at Adult Recess in Riverside Park—running under parachutes, playing yard games, and remembering what it means to lead with joy. Jesse, a dancer, healer, and bright soul, brought his full presence to this Power Portrait at Proven Trails in downtown Grand Rapids. The moment he stepped into Daffodil Yellow, he lit up like the morning sun.
Yellow was a color he once avoided—someone told him it washed him out. But here, he bloomed. Laughing, spinning, ukulele in hand. We stopped to greet every dog, every kind stranger, and let joy lead the way. ✨

Co-Creation in Bloom 🌼✨
Glue lines, flower fields, and memories that last forever.
At Fern Fest, I got to collaborate with kindmouseandfriends (Iris May Benson Replogle, 19, she/her) — an artist from Grand Rapids, MI who embodies the Orchid | Kind Creator archetype 🌸.
Iris is a freelance illustrator + writer who shares watercolor stories and graphic novels for all ages, focusing on mental health, kindness, and community. Her books are filled with reminders like “don’t give up” and “keep going,” curated with a kind heart. When you read her work, you can feel the generosity behind every page.
For our collaboration, Iris sketched lilacs with glue and then — with full access to my Dash-Dye palette — she poured on her own colors: midnight blue, periwinkle, orchid 💙💜. My role was simply to witness and celebrate as she transformed the fabric herself.
When she wore the finished piece in the field, catching flowers in the air, it became clear: art isn’t just about what you make — it’s about the memory of making it yourself. 🌿

🌈✨ Collective Joy in Color ✨🌈
Today I had the honor of welcoming some Davenport University students into the world of dash-dyeing. With all 150 colors spread before us, each group discovered pigments that connected to their unique color and then we went outside.
We crouched down in the grass, let the wind and ground infuse meaning into the fabric, and created something unforgettable together. 💨🌱👕 Collective creativity is life-giving — it reminds us how much we need to play, to experiment, and to share in the beauty of expression.
Each group spoke a different language of color, and together we made something far greater than the sum of its parts. I hope these students carry today’s joy with them forever.
💫 Want this kind of experience for your own group? Whether you’re a team of students, coworkers, or community members — I can bring More ∞ Joy to you. I’ll travel with all my colors, the tools, and the know-how to guide your group through a creative journey you’ll never forget.
📍 Book a session in my studio or invite me to your campus, workplace, or event — let’s discover what colors connect your group.
