Step by Step Guide
Dashed Dharma
Mix your Dharma Trading Co. dye with equal parts Baking Soda Ash, which activates the powdered pigment and allows you to place it directly on the fabric.
Once you’ve dashed your colors, let the fabric sit for four hours. During this time, the dye will set into the fibers, locking in the vivid hues. There’s no need for excessive waiting or additional chemicals; our special dye blend does all the work.
Tip: Place in a pressure cooker to speed things up! Temperatures required for immediate results are PSI 5.
After four hours, rinse your fabric in cold water until the water runs clear. Follow up with a gentle wash in warm water with mild detergent. This step removes any excess dye and reveals the full vibrancy of your colors. Treat your newly dyed item as you would any other piece of clothing—there’s no special care required!
Tip: For your first wash, wash separately or with similar colors to prevent any minor residual bleeding.
